Dominican vocations video from 1960

The video above is fascinating. It depicts life in the student house of the Western Dominican province in the United States in the late 1950's and early 1960's. It was one of the first 'vocations videos' filmed for an American religious order. The film was also meant to display to the 'outside world' what it meant to live in a Catholic monastery. While it may seem quite dated to us now, many of the fundamentals remain in relation to the Dominican vocation, namely - prayer, study, community and preaching. Enjoy!

Dear Father,

Please add our blog to your blogroll.

Folloing the great graces that flowed from the Year for Priests, we are proposing the observation of a Holy Year for Nuns and we're writing to the Holy See to suggest it. Please feel free to adopt the suggestion and to promote it:

God bless you!
